Applicants who have received Saint Lucia citizenship by investing permitted legally to change their name after 5 years with some exceptions. The amended regulation is published in the Citizenship by Investment (Amendment) Act 2025 on 28 Oct 2025.
Exemption
The Statutory regulation does not apply to a change of name legally
required due to —
- marriage, divorce, adoption or legitimization evidenced by a certified court order, adoption decree or marriage or divorce certificate;
- inclusion in a witness protection, anti-traficking or comparable programme necessitating a change for security purposes, evidenced by certification from from the competent authority;
- a clerical or transliteration by the Unit or other competent authority.
Procedure
Name Change Petition can be filed in Saint Lucia after you legally change your name in your home country or country of residence first. This requires a formal legal instrument, such as a Deed Poll or an Affidavit of Name Change filed through a local attorney.
The CIP Unit shall conduct a due diligence check on the change of name.
Passport Endorsement
The Immigration office endorse the name change in the observation page of new passport issued for security reasons.
