Driving Licenses are issued to foreigners visiting St Lucia in person or residents of St Lucia. For new licenses applicants should submit the results of their theory and practical tests together with payment of the requisite fee to the department.

Residents, returning nationals, work permit holders, foreign nationals obtaining citizenship are eligible for a Saint Lucian Drivers’ Licence. Americans can drive in St. Lucia as long as you have a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) and your home country driver’s license with you
Documents Needed – Valid foreign license, Valid work permit or appropriate documentation (citizenship papers etc.) Social Security Number (where applicable),
International Driving Permit – It is highly recommended to bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country, pairing it with your valid national license. Our lawyers can assist you with this process. An international license is good for one year. If you don’t have one, you’ll need a local driving permit. They are inexpensive, just a little over $20 US. They are good for 3 months.
